2020 Wasn’t The Dumpster Fire, America Is

The year in review

It seems like at the end of every year there are a bunch of news reports and social media memes poking fun at how we’ve had nothing but misery for the last twelve months. People act like the minute we hit January 1st, everything is going to miraculously be better even though we’ve done virtually nothing to improve our circumstances.

I don’t begrudge people for pausing for a moment to celebrate the turn of the calendar, but the simple fact is we will have the same problems in 2021, 2022, 2023, and probably for the rest of our natural lives. A calendar doesn’t mean anything. It’s an artificial construct. Blaming the calendar is just as stupid as blaming the clock when your alarm goes off and you have to get out of bed for work.

The simple fact is that our country is a gigantic dumpster fire. It’s not the year. It’s us! There is massive injustice in our nation, deplorable intolerance, and a tiny ruling class that won’t rest until they have subjugated and oppressed every single citizen. Meanwhile, at every step of the way, our politicians, media and schools try to brainwash us about how thankful we should be to live here. It’s time for this cycle to end.
