A friend of mine worked as a grade school teacher back in the late '70s. For one class assignment he had his students write Dahl a letter. He mailed off the package and thought nothing of it until a few months later he received a letter from England. Dahl had written back three or for pages in fine handwriting on onion leaf paper! Sadly, my friend left the letter in his desk when he left for the summer and the letter got tossed out by a custodian. He says losing that letter is one of the great laments of his life.
