Even if 'The Last Jedi' is a film about failure, it didn't handle the theme at all well. It was from top to bottom an incomplete and incoherent story. Star Wars fans that didn't like this movie didn't base their objections on the approach to the material, they based their objections on the cavalier way the material was handled. It's just a failure of a story concept from its inception. Fans at least deserve the respect of a decent story concept that's well conceived and well executed. Just doing the opposite of what the previous director set up isn't clever...it's lazy.
