Everything you say could be a consequence of the constant attacks on education. When conservatives want to destroy something, they don't take it head on. Instead, they erode it in as many ways as possible. People who do the minimal required to get a degree, and then fail to see how the degree system itself is an element of gatekeeping (to serve a racist objective), end up being a part of the problem.
