Excellent, well-researched article. My wife is from Peru and she's often pointed out that every time there is a Spanish speaking woman in an American film, there's a scene where the woman starts screaming at her husband or boyfriend in super fast Spanish. The scene is always played for laughs, and she finds it kind of irritating.
