Gosh, I'm 45 and although I've made money writing, I'm not what you'd call a "massive success." I believe that our publishing system is controlled by a few powerful publishers that like to decide which narratives are supported in mainstream culture. If you have an aspiration about telling the truth about the human experience, you're always going to encounter resistance. We all need to write and be true to what our experiences and perceptions have taught us.
