I lived in Peru for 10 years starting in 2000. It was an eye opening experience. The asthma medications that were basically bankrupting me in the US were almost free abroad. There is a lot of money in the US but you have to know when to get out because the system is designed to get it back from you and then some. You're right, a rebuild is necessary before it collapses from its complete lack of structural integrity. It will be one or the other. I just hope it doesn't descend into a complete autocracy in the next 5 years. Thanks for your perspective on things, you always give me a new way of looking at past and current events.
