I agree, but I think they go through mental gymnastics to justify themselves. A few of my former friends and family members were shocked (shocked!) when I cut them out of my life for voting Trump. “I thought about you when I voted,” they said as if that justified stabbing me in the back.

You’re right, the racism of the United States makes people willing to act against their own interests. I don’t understand it.
