I appreciate your kind and thoughtful comment. I heard many of those phrases and resolved never to say them to my kids. In fact, whenever I'm not sure what to do, I think of my childhood and do the opposite. It's distressing how ignored and normalized this behavior is. I appreciate comments like yours.
