I don't think the idea of "providing lower premiums" ever enters into the thought process at any level. I think insurance companies come up with ridiculous excuses to charge excessive premiums in some scenarios to justify smaller price hikes in other scenarios. The point I tried to make in my article is that people don't fully comprehend how much they're getting fleeced because it's hidden as a "work benefit." That's still your money and compensation that's owed to you. There needs to be greater outrage about our absurd healthcare costs.
