I got over $700 by getting 3rd place in one of Vocal's challenges, but Medium is the better platform. I'll still throw a story in a challenge from time to time (they have cash payouts as high as $20,000), but it's just a crapshoot. Fortunately, you can always republish your stories on Medium when the contest is over and make some money on it.
