I hear you. Outrage drives how most arguments are presented these days, so we're conditioned to believe the expression of any different perspective will be met with hostility. I think there's an inherent assumption that few statements are meant as absolutes. I started thinking of the #notallmen controversy that came as a response to honest discussions about domestic violence. Obviously those comments were not intended to refer to all men, and I think pausing to make that distinction only undermines the more important message of ending domestic violence.
