I often receive challenges to this concept, but I strongly believe that my position is correct. You have to keep in mind that abusive people will be abusive and claim that it was an accident. People make the choice whether or not to be careless around you. But the most important thing is that it doesn't matter if something was an accident or not. You're still hurt. People can't run around inflicting damage on everyone who crosses their path and claim it was accidental. That's a form of abuse. The person who is hurt gets to decide and if they label it abuse, telling them otherwise is victim shaming. Thanks for the thoughtful comment.
