I think, though, a lot of your argument disregards the rightful reaction of the aggrieved. There’s a fixation that we should focus on intent. More and more, I’m coming to believe that intent is irrelevant. A crime is not less of a crime because it wasn’t intentional. We should focus on the feelings of the aggrieved rather than the intent of the aggressor. That’s a significant power shift that I believe will lead to a better society.
