I think when something like that happens, you’re too shocked in the moment. She just asked to go to the bathroom to wash her face. A reaction might even be to laugh rather than express the true horror of what just happened. Too often our society looks at a response and thinks “it’s no big deal” because of a way a person reacts. But I don’t think we truly understand how a person would or should react in that kind of situation.
