I would argue that religion is a philosophy of control. Every time I meet a pastor, I ask him if he supports bodily autonomy for women. They always give me a suspicious look. I'm very disappointed with how our religious community is tolerant, and sometimes even supports, blatant discrimination. Actually, a few years back, a pastor asked me for my thoughts on how to get more people to return to the church. I told him that the church should become accredited. If people could get a few religious studies credits for free by going to church, it might help them feel motivated to go to college. He didn't even answer me. I suppose that idea is too much against the conservative war against education. These are sad times. Thanks for the comment!
