I'd heard some of those criticisms so I googled the word when I wrote the article. My impression was that it was the most respectful choice, but I could be in error. As I write this comment, I can't remember the argument I read which convinced me it was an acceptable term. I'll be more mindful of this going forward, I'm not sure where the debate stands at this moment. I meant it with respect for everyone. My wife doesn't like to have "Hispanic" applied to her because she's from Latin America. Thanks for that comment!
