I'm coming to the conclusion that the only people history celebrates are those guilty of oppression. The confederate generals with statues are an example. What we're conditioned to believe represents "success" in the US often means the people who best exploited others. I wonder if learning, as a society, to celebrate other achievements, as you mention here, will be an indication that we have made progress as a species. This is a very thought provoking article.
