In order for authors to succeed on this platform, they must not allow themselves to be discourteous in their responses. We all get provoked, and I'll often go back and delete a comment (that I made), if I feel it might be even a little bit on the mean spirited side of things. You're better off just saying "Thanks for the comment!" :) You're doing exactly the right thing!
