It's a common rhetorical tactic to respond with an inaccurate exaggeration of an argument. For example, I might say, "We should have one less school resource officer" and somebody might reply, "Walter wants to eliminate the military and the police." Those words don't appear in my example and they don't appear in my article. This kind of thing happens all the time in our politics. It's a tactic extremists use to prevent any kind of reasonable discourse. Now, if you go back and edit that out of your original comment, I'll respond to you. But I'm not going to defend a statement I never made.
