It’s a system of handed down abuse. Maybe it’s just a product of unenlightened thinking. The Bible was written in the Middle Ages, basically the most brutal period of history when people thought cutting off each other’s hands was a good punishment. I guess it’s like stone tool thinking. It’s the way people think in the absence of any form of enlightenment. Is that a good answer? I’ll have to think about it more…
