It's possible to get really good at it if you practice. People always get stuck on trying to recall the name directly. Ask them questions like, "What other film was that actor/actress in? Who is that actor/actress famous for dating? What color is his/her hair?" For me, the game of recall is usually more entertaining than the anecdote the person was trying to tell.
