I've felt like a loser most of my life for a variety of reasons. I think people are put under enormous pressure in modern society and we're pushed away from making important connections. People talk about "traditional values" but I think the individuals that support that philosophy are largely responsible for destroying connections ("religious" parents kicking LGBTQ children from their home, etc.).
Your comment gives me a lot to think about, thanks for that. When I lived in Peru, people would often hug you and kiss you just out of basic friendliness. Americans were known as cold. I think it does have a negative effect on our psyche to have no physical contact, even non-sexual contact.
But you said the most important point at the top of your comment. There are too many people who are forced into this line of work. That has to be our primary concern. Good luck to you on your journey!
