I've never read it. However, I've been critical of Christian Nationalism in the US, and some people say that makes me a target for violence. I agree with your comment that I don't think that's a case of courting controversy. But there are a lot of people who think religious dogma is untouchable. I don't have the visibility of Rushdie so I don't think I'll be a target, still, it makes me nervous. Violence is so prevalent in the US that yes, we have to be on our toes.
