My family was not a churchgoing family so we didn't have Sunday clothes. However, when I moved to Peru, I noticed how important it was for people to dress up nice. White Americans like me had a reputation for our slovenly appearance. My wife (Peruvian) always dresses professionally for work and she disapproves of the people who come in "pajamas and crocs" as she puts it.
