‘Police Wife’ by Alex Roslin Reveals a Dark Truth About Law Enforcement

One of the most frustrating things about American media is that any time a person is fatally shot by a police officer, reporters immediately check to see if the victim has a criminal record. Perhaps it would be equally appropriate to investigate previous transgressions on the part of the officer.

Every community requires a police force to protect the interests of law abiding citizens. The problem in the United States is that civil unrest has reached a point of extreme volatility. The murder of George Floyd by police officers in Minneapolis is just one example of many documented acts of unwarranted violence taken by the police.

Police Wife by Alex Roslin helps to paint a picture of just how widespread police violence is. Recent studies have shown that domestic violence among police officers is the kind of problem that requires immediate attention.

Various reports list the abuse rates at around 41 percent, but even these shocking numbers likely underrepresent the reality.
