Such a lovely story! I once hiked the Inca Trail with a world champion cross-country skiier (Martin Koukal), and even though he had won his medal years ago, you could tell it had changed him forever. The mental side of putting aside the pressure, getting out of your own way, and just performing is really remarkable. Thanks for sharing this story!
