Thanks for the lovely comment. Yes, it's sad how people say the same thing over and over to the point where we feel suspicious. I just watched 'Cyrano' last night and there's a whole sequence on how Roxanne is sick of being told "I love you."

I do feel very lucky to have my wife. I like to take a break from writing social justice articles to reflect a little on romance. It helps keep me sane.

Your comment also made me think more about the importance of dining together. When my wife and I first started dating, we'd go to a hotel with two bottles of wine and a bag of croissants (sliced ham and cheese too). It wasn't a "gourmet" meal, but it was perfect!
