That's a very thoughtful comment and I appreciate it enormously. What you're discussing is on the other end of the spectrum from what I was attempting to address. Like many things in our society, the same words can often be misappropriated to defend contradictory messages. If you say "I'm against racism" to a white supremacist, you might be surprised to hear them agree with you. Then they explain that they are against the fraudulent concept of anti-white racism, and it's very frustrating. You're very right, the impulse to write comes before the belief that it's possible to make any money from it. There's a class among writers who claim they don't write for money, and then they take all the best opportunities for themselves and insist the rest of us must support them. I didn't mean for my article to be taken as an attack against a hardworking writer like you, I offered it as a criticism of those that control the means to compensate writers and insist that there's something "ignoble" about being paid. I never took offense at your work, and I would welcome it if you wrote an article about "Why it's okay to claim you don't write for money." Both things can be true!
