One of the main issues I have with private schools is that they usually steal money that's supposed to go to public schools. You're right that the public school system "cannot accommodate certain kids." But I think the reason for that is because we allow this predatory system to be in place that sabotages public schools. The thought of rural kids educating themselves is very interesting too. I'm rural, as you know, and I grew up reading, but I was an outlier. Most of the kids in my class think "doing your own research" means listening to Joe Rogan. One of my good friends in Peru married a woman who came from a family that was affluent when she was young and then fell on hard times in her teen years. She has some fascinating stories because she'd been through the full spectrum of human experience. Too often all we get in the media are stories from people who have always had it easy.
