The angle I usually take is that Disney basically owns the whole media, and they have the politcial power to shut down racism if they wanted to (that's hyperbole to some extent... but not by much). I think they cultivate controversies like this just as a form of marketing for their properties. They don't really care about stopping racism as long as people go and watch their films and shows.
