The fact that a book written by Harriet Jacobs exists is simply mind blowing. She had to overcome more than any human being should have to endure in order to get that book written and preserve the truth of her reality. Every time I think of that book, I find it heartbreaking how many others weren't allowed to tell their stories. To this day, the anti-CRT attitude is effectively censoring people like Jacobs. That's really cool that you came across a historical plaque referencing her. Talk about stumbling across something that dislodges you from your thoughts and makes you look around and go, "Wow."
