They're not really kind people though, if they're voting for hatred. I mean, I'm a white male, so it would be easy for me to adopt the delusion and ignore the pain these votes cause. But my wife is an immigrant, and she is regularly harassed as a direct result of the Republican hate campaign. I think we really need to look at what's going on from the perspective of women and the minority groups Republicans attack. Then it becomes less easy to regard our Republican voting friends and family as "essentially kind." They're not. But you're right, it's not easy. Doing the right thing rarely is.
