This article gave me flashbacks to my days in my licensure program. I hated every minute of it, and yes, there was immense pressure to conform to some idiotic and ineffective method of teaching. All the teachers said, "discipline is the most important thing, if you are too soft in the first days you can never get that level of discipline back." I always thought that if you treat your students like human beings you have better results. It made me physically sick to have to go through the motions they made me perform to grant me my license.
