Yeah, being a bully is so deeply engrained in the American psyche you have to deliberately override it. You're doing the right thing. You should have kindness awards, etc., to overcome the traumatic past. Make everyone applaud. You know, the contempt for participation trophies kind of plays into this doesn't it?
