Yes, I anticipated I'd get more comments like this and I think it's a valid argument. There are absolutely brilliant people who don't have formal educations. I wrote this article to combat the unfortunate reality of the US where our politicians and our media grant unreasonable authority to deliberately ignorant ideas.
I've got a B.S. in English. I have people with PhDs argue with me all the time, and sometimes I think they're speaking from arrogance and entitlement rather than engaging my actual point.
I like the quote about expressing a great idea in a simple form. That being said, there are many simple ideas that are completely inaccurate.
I guess my concern is that educated people in the US are constantly under attack and we need to change that. At that point, I'll probably start arguing that educated people shouldn't be so elitist.
