You're right, these concepts evolve with time. I meant it was contradictory in the sense that it was the practice of antebellum slavery for masters to have children with their slaves. They can't engage in a practice like that and then turn around and claim they want to "protect the purity of the white race" (well, they did because they were evil and hypocritical).
